Over 4 lakh individuals, including 42,000 students from 700 schools, attended the 11-day Madurai Book Fair.

The Madurai district administration arranged the event in collaboration with the Book Sellers and Publishers Association of South India, and the directorate of public libraries sold 3.5 crore books.

The book fair was started on September 6 by State Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister P Moorthy. It featured 230 stalls offering a variety of books, and the school education department managed for students to visit during the fair's duration.

Evenings featured cultural programs by school and college students, as well as literary discussions and debates led by notable authors and speakers.

Due to its popularity, the district administration extended the fair, scheduled initially from September 6th to 16th, to one more day- 17th September.

At the closing ceremony on Tuesday, the district authorities managed and rewarded all the volunteers and students who participated.
